I am currently working on cleaning out dead/dormant poison Ivy before it gets out of control (we moved in the house in June and didn't realize about the poison ivy at the edge of our gully because we saw the house in the early spring, not a huge deal, but some work. I'm also working on digging up a few small stumps so that no one trips over them, I've done this before at our old house and it's quite the work out. I got one out yesterday and have at least one more that I know of, but possibly a few more, there are some smaller trees that I want to remove also.
This spring we want to run wire to put in ceiling fans (the house has no ceiling lights in the bedrooms or living area, but that's the only thing in the house that is wrong. Why people 30 years ago thought they wouldn't need light is beyond me. (All of the switches control an outlet for lamps.)
So what projects are you working on?

Putting in a garden is the big project this spring. We are wanting to grow enough to help with the fresh and canned portion of the grocery bill this year.
I just finished up doing all of my 1st and 3rd grade planning. But I am still working on clearing out clutter and on rainy days I will now work in the basement to finish making the main area into a library/playroom instead of a mess of toys.
Good luck with your projects.:001_smile:

Decluttering, decluttering, decluttering! We had new carpet & kitchen floors installed over a year ago, most of the stuff we took out of the house is still in boxes in the garage, and there is STILL TOO MUCH STUFF IN THE HOUSE. Ack. I am slowly but sure making progress through it, slowly being the key word there.
Also we need to paint. Our living room & dining room are the last two rooms that need to be painted in the house. Actually our bathroom needs it too but dh doesn't want to do that until we can tile, and who knows when that will be?
I'd also like to get mulch in the flower beds and plant some stuff. Our drought seems to be ending, maybe, but I'm hesitant to plant too much not knowing. I ripped out some stuff that was taking over one of my front beds and now I have big empty places that are calling out for something to fill them.

I have just finished up a housecleaning project/experiment (http://onemomsfunjourney.blogspot.com). I am now, at every available opportunity, trying to bring some saneness and order to my flower beds.
I was pregnant when we moved into this house, then postpartum, then nursing, then chasing a baby around. I was tired and couldn't devote any time to the wonderful beds the previous owner had planted. They've since run amok.

I just planted my first ever bed of lettuce. We'll see how that goes.
I'm sewing fringe onto the bottom of my cafe curtains, I have three more panels to go, but it looks adorable.
Preparing a bunch of clothes and toys for a consignment sale.
This weekend we'll be puting in a new swingset and playhouse, well, it's new to us, a friend gave it to us.
That's it for me, but my dh has a list of projects a mile long.:tongue_smilie:

where I'll store it. I need to decide if we are having a yard sale and if not what to do with the stuff I've set aside that we don't use. I also need to repair some scrapbooks, aparently not all adhesives are created equal and I didn't realize that when I first started 8 years ago :(
We are also getting quotes on outdoor stuff, patios, fence, landscapings and need to decide what is priority.

It seems that I am very capable of walking in that store room (much like an attic) and putting things INTO it, but nothing ever comes out! So the mess just grows and grows. I keep WANTING to get to purging that space, but time gets the better of me! So I want to get to that sometime this spring.
I was reminded of the need to clean it when I went up there to put away some winter clothes, sleds, snowshoes, and such. (Yeah! Got that done!)
One of the joys of renting right now is that we don't have any "house" projects going on. We don't build, fix, decorate much, paint, etc. I wish we could in some ways, but it sure takes a lot of time consuming issues off of our plate!

I've been going to woods, digging up dirt, then hauling it back to the house in a wagon and dumping it in my garden beds.
I had to take ibuprophen after doing that for several hours yesterday. Ouch!

We just moved last October and our house is the exact same way!!! How annoying! We just put a ceiling fan in dd's bedroom and we plan to do the same in the rest of the bedrooms.
Our spring list:
Outdoor:
pull up two trees out front
paint shutters/front door
hang new house numbers
replace lighting out front
repaint deck
buy patio furniture
do something with the mud pit that is our back yard
plant flowers
Indoor:
Paint boys' room
Finish updating 2 bathrooms
Carpet basement
Have glass block windows installed in basement
Have closet built in basement
Tile steps to basement
Install runner on upstairs steps
Re-do fireplace
install new tv
Yea - we're going to be really busy!!!

I have cut up my Tolkien as an Artist book and framed about half the prints. Now I am hanging them around the house. I am cleaning and rewiring an antique lantern to use as an overhead light fixture in my den.
I would like to start a garden, but the deer/rabbits are rampant. I think I will just attempt to go to the farmers' market.

Complete health & style make-over
Get Money program back on track
Learn about lawn care and implement
Study about dogs and help dd decide what kind of dog she wants that is acceptable to me
Pull together family cookbook of foods that are healthy and that my family will eat
Sort and frame all of my family pictures (currently in a cardboard box)
Catch up on all grading
Get back to writing my book
Learn Latin myself
I usually get about an hour or two a day to work on all of these projects combined so they are not moving forward very quickly right now. I am hoping as my health improves and summer approaches I will have more time.

I am going through the kids' clothes, getting rid of winter and seeing what fits for spring and summer. Dh is chopping down trees for firewood for *next* winter. eesh.

the main ones are:
1. Putting in a garden.
2. decluttering
3. organizing books/buying bookshelves
4. cleaning out a downstairs room and fixing it up to be dd11's bedroom.
5. Yard/old shed cleanout - we need one of those big dumpsters first
6. making the laundry/office room a REAL area and not just the "dump everything in there" room.
7. organizing the storage room
Those are the priorities. How much will get done is anyone's guess especially since we'll have a new baby. I don't think the new baby realizes that, yet, though. :glare:

Oh my gosh, I shouldn't let myself get started on the project threads...
The stuff we're currently working on:
Preparing the garden and pool areas
Chopping out a big tree that fell over in a winter storm
Chopping out the scotch thistle that is sprouting all over the paddocks
Exercising the horses on a regular basis
Stuff that's been on our list for years:
Replace all the fencing that keeps falling down in every single winter storm
Replace the rotten deck with some kind of low maintenance patio material (Stamped Concrete? Aggregate? Pavers?... whichever is the least expensive and easiest to maintain)
Replace the siding on the house
Replace the sliding doors with broken seals (they are so fogged up you can barely see out of them)
Rip out the carpet and replace with wood, tile, or laminate
It's kind of a long list. Springtime always raises my blood pressure... lol.
My personal List:
Get my horse started under saddle
Shear the sheep and actually spin all of the wool!
Train the minis to: pull the cart, behave in a parade, stand still for body clipping
Keep up with regular exercise
Get the kids started on their next Calvert grades and continue to work through the summer
I know there is more. Are you sorry you asked? :tongue_smilie:

1. Get the garden in.
2. Strip and repaint the outside rockers.
3. Assess the other outside furniture (it was here when we moved in) and see if it can be stripped and repainted. If so, do it.
4. Re-glue the legs on the table in the office. (Right now it sways about 2 inches in each direction. :D)
5. Hang curtains in our bedroom.
6. Help the kids build an egg incubator then order eggs.
7. Clean out the old chicken coop in the backyard. Temporarily move the bikes, scooters and stuff in there so they don't totally rust out. Then talk to the landlord and see if he will allow us to keep the hatched chicks. If so, redo the coop's chicken wire and set-up a chicken wire run to keep the birds out of the new garden. If not, make arrangements to bring them to a friend who offered to take the birds if we can't keep them.
8. Come up with a plan to overcome the shortcomings of this school year and order necessary curriculum and supplies.
9. Go through my huge plastic bin of photos and get them framed or put into albums.
Having this list has been a great motivator to getting my work-for-pay done. I am tired of being cooped up inside.

I did the big planter over the weekend, and my darling son has promised to help me on his "day off" tomorrow to do the two smaller ones.
I'm also hoping to get framed and up on the walls the most recent photos of the kids. I've got my daughter's graduation photos from last summer, the pictures of both kids from this past Christmas, and the photos of my son in his Nutcracker costume.
Don't get me wrong: There are about 400 million other things I probably should be doing, but those are the only ones that are actually on my likely-to-get-done-anytime-soon list.

We moved to SC in January. My mom and sister have been living with us since then. We combined 2 households worth of stuff. It is a pretty good sized house, but STILL! Anyway, my mom's house should be ready to move into on Saturday. I can't wait to UNPACK more of our stuff. I just held off because it was just too cramped. Then I want to tackle painting my very ugly basement. It is just horrible. I am so excited to be able to unpack!

I'm in the process of painting our exterior shutters, a basement bedroom, then I'm moving on to our master bedroom and bathroom that has (gasp!) purple and lavender as its color scheme.
I'm also trying to de-clutter a lot of the STUFF we have around----toys, tools, clothes, books, decorative items, keepsakes, furniture, etc---for a neighborhood garage sale in 2 weeks.

Today, resting up from a big day out. Tomorrow, planting tomatoes, peppers, and basil.
I'm thinking about painting and redecorating the living room. It really needs some brightening up. I might sew some new slipcovers in a pretty floral pattern if I can find some fabric I like that isn't too expensive.
On the weight-loss/exercise front - I joined the spark people thing, but I haven't found the WTMers group yet. I need to get going on that.
Also making summer plans - who's going where, and when, and how to coordinate it all. I'm thinking about sending my youngest to camp, we have family to visit, and my older two will be going hither and yon.
Other than that, just the usual curriculum planning for next year.

Just thought of one more.
We have a tradition of giving our son some kind of framed thing to hang on his bedroom wall to commemorate each theatrical production he's in. We try to avoid giving flowers to either child, since they inevitably look pathetic and then die. My daughter gets various kinds of big, fake flowers. My son, being a boy and less into flowers in general, gets framed flyers and so on.
I try to do something interesting with the framing, though, to make it more personal. It started with just painting the name of the show and the date onto a wooden shape and sticking that onto the side of the frame, but, as these things tend to do, it's been getting more elaborate as we try to keep it fun.
So, he finished the opera last night and received his framed item. I bought a wooden "memory frame," onto which I decoupaged some scrapbook paper that tied in with the colors/sets of the show and then embellished with appropriate stick-ons. In the actual frame went a copy of the artwork from the poster.
However, he has two more performances coming up in the next few weeks. One is the junior version of Pirates of Penzance (end of this month), for which I've already purchased another wooden frame and some pirate-y doo-dads. The other is his dance recital (middle of May), for which I currenly have no ideas of anything cute to do.
So, I guess that makes two more projects on my really-have-to-do-it list.
Oh, and we haven't started the weeding yet, because my son is sleeping off his late night with the opera. I suppose there are worse excuses for avoiding helping your mom in the yard, huh?

So what projects are you working on? Kristine
I think DH has awakened himself from a dead sleep b/c he worries that one of the kids will try to go out that door before we get the balcony put back up! (They won't - both doors are locked and wired shut - but he still worries. One of the things I love about him.) So. There's that. That's going to take the majority of our time between now and whenever it's done. :) I just put up the demolition pictures on my blog this morning. Ew. It's nasty.
In the interstices, I need to:
* edit, print and frame some pictures for a friend's birthday this weekend
* finish recovering the couch (drat that nesting! gah!)
* plant grass seed in the front and back yards before the clover takes over
* get the garden going (don't want to be planting things in July like we did last year! LOL!)
* stain the new fence in the back yard
* screen in the front porch
* keep working on rebuilding the driveway (the mail lady won't come to the house to deliver packages until it's done)
Once the balcony is up, we get to replace the teeny-tiny, light-sucking hole of a kitchen window with a big, wide bay window! WOOHOO! That is my ultimate goal, right there. If I accomplish nothing else than the balcony and window, I can kick back and enjoy my summer as a Very Happy Woman, indeed.
