Ughh! Just when I thought I would just do Sonlight next year, I started thinking about TOG again. I have lots of friends who use it, borrowed their binders and looked through them, thought, pondered, etc. We are starting the 4 year cycle over again next year. I will have 5th, 3rd, 2nd and K. When I look at the binders, the schedules, Trivium Academy's beautiful planning pages, AHHHHHHH! It just makes my head spin. I am not sure I can do it. And it really is just for history and Bible, right? Maybe a bit of geography and writing acoss the curriculum? That still leaves Grammar/Latin which is taking a TON of time, and science, and, and. . . Is it just me or is it not as complicated as it looks? I would love your input-- all of it. Good experiences, bad experiences, and everything in between, before I throw in the towel and hand them a Bob Jones history reader and tell them to do the worksheets.

It has been a blessing for us. Having everything in one spot, and how it is all interrelated. It works for us since my three are all four years apart. I like having the teachers notes to look at, and I am learning right along with the kids. I plan on using IEW for writing in the near future, but TOG does cover that along with history, geography, church history, literature, art projects. Anyway we love it.:)

It seems complicated but it's not- the sheer volume of what TOG has provided done for you is overwhelming at first but once you pick what you will use in your own hs, it's a beautiful blessing.
Just like Heather said, it all works together instead of having this history, that writing, this geography, that literature which really takes more time b/c there are objectives to meet in individual curricula. TOG not only tells you what the week's objectives are- it shows you how to accomplish them all the while you can feel at ease about what you are feeding your child's heart, mind and soul.
Others say the books are a big expense but really TOG will save me money in the long run- I won't be buying books any more b/c they MIGHT work for a topic, now I have a solid, tested booklist to buy from and I don't have to worry about building a home library that will serve our purposes. TOG takes a lot of pressure and time-consuming research and second-guessing away from the parent AND respects individualism. Win-win for us!

I’m not sure I can add anything to what was said… its not an easy decision… I was where you are 4.5 years ago… but I already bought most of my SL…. I was undecided for my oldest…
Like Jessica said, TOG is overwhelming by looking at it, but if you focus on what you are using, it’s not so overwhelming.
Warmly, Lisa
