Which do you prefer for english and grammar??

Which one has more writing intruction???

That's a tough one because I like both . Abeka's grammar can easily be used without a teacher's manual . I have the 3rd grade grammar and the 4th grade and they are both very well put together .
I haven't used BJU's Grammar program but have used other subjects and I'm sure its just as good . But I have heard to really get the full benefits of the program you need to use the manual .
Either way you can't go wrong really . Just preference .

BJUP has far more writing instruction and practice than ABeka. Its grammar is quite good, as well, yet BJUP manages not to beat grammar to death.

But we never tried ABeka. BJ is teacher intensive if you use the BJ TMs, though. I'd buy the Student Worktext and get the Answer Key (It's called the Teacher's Manual from 4th grade up) from ChristianLibertyPress.com. It's cut and dry and even comes with short and sweet tips for teaching the writing lesson in the upper elementary grades. HTH!
