Ds has started beginning half of his sentences w/ "G TRICKED me into ______" (whatever he *knows* he wasn't supposed to do).
Dh wants him to copy a verse regarding taking responsibility for your own actions (which we've discussed w/ him), but I can't find one.
Thoughts?
TIA!

How about Genesis 3? Talk about how Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent, yet God held each of them responsible for their actions. Okay, it's not a single verse, but he could copy parts of the passage.

Yeah, that's the idea I'm looking for, & we've talked to him about the story itself.
This morning was the worst--he came out of his room *as soon as* I came down the hall, saying he hadn't done his AM chores because of his sister, who tricked him into playing.
The thing is, he'd slept late, which is fine. (He has AM chores because he gets up at 4AM, lol.) He hadn't had time to do his chores. He wouldn't have been in trouble *at all,* except for this! <sigh>

Proverbs 14 has some good one line verses that talk of responsibility in making decisions. Here are some:
The wisdom of a sensible person guides his way of life, but the stupidity of fools misleads them. (14:8)
A gullible person believes anything, but a sensible person watches his step.(14:15)
A wise person is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is careless and overconfident.
(14:16)
Also, Proverbs 22:3 Sensible people foresee trouble and hide from it, but gullible people go ahead and suffer the consequence.

Hmmmmm......It makes me wonder why he was immediately defensive. Does he frequently not have chores done? I feel like there's a peice of the puzzle missing for him to make excuses right off the bat.

I looked this up when I thought G stood for God. As in your son has been saying that God had tricked him into disobedience.
But I think maybe you meant various family members instead?
Well, maybe it will be useful anyway!

How did you know? Yep, he'll go a week doing his AM chores really well, then fall off the bandwagon, w/ either "I forgot" or "Sister made me do it."
Fwiw, sis is 4, he's 7! LOL. (She *is* tricky, though!)
