We've done grammar since 1st grade. Now I have a 4th and 6th grader. They both get 95% correct on the Easy Grammar assign. At this point it seems like busy work. When should our students stop doing it??
Thanks

If your current grammar feels like busywork, take a break. But keep in mind that complex grammar concepts are taught in the jr. high and high school grammar programs, so you'll likely need to pick it up again at some point.

My children stop doing grammar as a separate subject after they finish Voyages in English 8. After that, we work on grammar in the context of studying French and through composition.

I think a lot depends on the grammar program you use. We use R&S through grade 8. At that point I feel they've had enough grammar, certainly more than a lot of high schools provide. In high school, we concentrate on literature and writing.

See, I would say never, LOL, and give them harder work - but then I'm just the grammar nazi, after all - head of the language gestapo.....

I haven't reached this point yet but I believe we'll do about the same as Sandy said. As long as at that point they have a strong grasp with no doubts, we'll probably shift from super focused grammar to keeping the facts present while in daily work.
However, saying that, I don't remember much from my junior high (7th- 8th) years. I could contradict myself when the time comes and keep some constant, even light grammar going all the time.
a shot. Supposedly, you do it fast and furiously in 7th/8th/9th and you're done. We also do Latin so I think that helps.
