Are the solutions given for all problems at the middle school level and up, or just a few? How difficult is it for a mom who struggles with math already to teach Singapore? If I start NEM 1 in 8th grade, am I a little too late? I notice they recommend it to begin at 7th grade. I want to choose something for 8th that I can keep all the way through High School, so I would really appreciate any help you high schooling parents can give. Even though ds is in TT algebra 1 this year, I think I would have to start him out with NEM 1 because from the looks of the placement test, this curriculum is pretty tough. How would you progress through high school using Singapore and starting in the 8th grade?

I don't know what happens if you try to start Singapore with NEM because I started in PM with mine. Maybe someone else can answer that quesion.

There are solutions manuals that give worked problems for NEM1 and NEM2. After that, you get only the answers in the back of the book.

Starting NEM1 in 8th grade is fine. I suppose it depends where you want to end up. It is a mix of pre-algebra/algebra/geometry.

My oldest did:
NEM1 - 9th
NEM2 - 10th
NEM3 - 11th
CC pre-calculus - 12th (next year)

Obviously he won't have calculus before college. We are grateful he'll get to pre-calc, considering that he began PM3 in 6th grade (bad ps math followed by a year of Saxon).

My younger one is in 7th grade doing NEM1. He will probably do:
NEM2 - 8th
NEM3 - 9th
NEM4 - 10th
CC pre-calc - 11th
CC calculus - 12th

Or if he tests into calc after NEM4, then he'll do CC calc in 11th and something else in 12th.
