We have a HP1210 All in one that we've had it it works great, but I think at some point, I would like a laser printer for all of the stuff that I print out, things like lapbooking stuff, ideas from the internet. I do use my copier, but I also use the internet. It will be a while before we get something, just wanting ideas.
Thanks,
Kristine

I like my Brother DCP7020. It's B&W only, though. I kept my old inkjet for the rare occasions I might need color (which has been never).

What is the BIG difference between laser and regular printers anyway?
I have no idea

The cost/page. My laser printer is supposed to be about 2 cents per page. While the cartridges cost more for a laser (I just paid $43 at Amazon for a toner cartridge), I'm supposed to get 2500 prints or so out of it. I forget the numbers, but this is quite a bit higher than ink jet.

Yep, that's what I've heard is the cost per page, plus I think isn't the laser better print quality? I'm just wanting a black ink laser, I would still keep our HP and just have both of them hooked up.
Thanks,
Kristine

It is a good quality. I copy more than I print, though, and I was too cheap to ever print much with our inkjet so I can't really comment much on that aspect :). I just looked up an HP inkjet cartridge online and it listed as 833 pages/cartridge.

The print quality of a laser is MUCH better than an inkjet and it does cost significantly less to operate. I get about 4,000 pages from a toner cartridge. I have an HP LaserJet 6MP--an older model but it still runs beautifully. HP lasers are very reliable and run forever (almost!). When I worked for a publishing company, our HP LaserJet ran non-stop day after day.

I love my HP 1006. It is cheap, prints quickly, and the toner lasts forever.
I have kept my 3-in-1 ink jet for copying (don't do a lot of that), scanning, and color printing.
If I had it all to do over again, I probably would splurge on a color laser. But, I print a decent quantity of color documents for Usborne stuff.

I have a Dell printer. It does everything. It scans, copies, and prints. It even prints photos.

The HP Officejet i just bought is cheaper to run than any other printer out there according to Consumer Reports. Even cheaper than the laser it replaced!
I do love the laser - non-bleeding for highlighting, sharp prints (i tend to print a lot on draft with the inkjet just because i can), but this thing copies like a breeze :D
It's the Office jet Pro L7580. I seriously can't say enough good about it - and i've been a laser printer owner for oh, gee, since Apple introduced the first "cheap" one! LOL!!
