We're making gingerbread men because we're studying Russia. How those are related, I missed, but it's fun. Or it would be except...

baby got ahold of my rolling pin. The handle on one side is falling off, & she took that down the hall...a while ago. Can't find it. So I've got one handle on my rolling pin.

Worse yet, I just realized that I packed my gingerbread man cookie cutter with Christmas stuff.

So, if I can get my dough sufficiently flat, we can have gingerbread 4-leaf clovers or gingerbread eggs or gingerbread USAs. Or flags.

What should I do?

LOL - my kids don't really care what shape gingerbread cookies are in. We make them every year for Christmas, and all of the other cookie cutters got used way more than the actual gingerbread man.

Welll. . . . .

Don't know if this is an option, but when I was little my mom traced my hand on a piece of grocery bag (paper!), cut it out, then we laid it on the cookie dough and cut around it with a knife. Then we ate our hands!!

Just an idea.. . . .can you print up a gingerbread man picture, and cut around it?

You're making me want gingerbread :D

Waaaaaay too much trouble, lol! I'm thinking of making chocolate chip cookie shaped gingerbread cookies--you know, squash, squash, squash--voila!

Thanks, though. Ugh. I think I'm too tired now. Maybe tomorrow...(I've been telling them that since we made the dough...yesterday? Or was it the day before?)

This is when you need one of those bottles from your former kitchen.
It's the only thing I ever used until I inherited my grandmother's rolling pin.

(That was your kitchen, wasn't it? With the shelf of bottles near the ceiling?)

Wow. I can't believe you remember that!! It took *me* a while to figure out what you meant.

whispering: I still have one or two...that are, um, not empty. But the window by my dining table is *really* public--everybody has to walk by to get to their cars, so, er, I don't think they'd understand! Thanks, though. :001_smile:
