Can I subscribe to a thread that I haven't posted in?

for instance.... someone asked a question about a math program and I want to get the answers emailed to me (because I know I'll lose track of where the post is) - but I don't have anything to add to answer her question....

can I subscribe to it without posting?

Yes. On the blue bar above the first post is a 'thread tools'. Just click on that and you will get a drop down bar that allows to subscribe or unsubscribe.
