I would like my dc to start journaling, but have no idea where/how to start. My girls are ages 5 1/2, 7 and 8 - and all like to write.
Do you have any suggestions? thanks so much -

We do nature journalling 2 times a week and a regular journal 3 times a week. I generally allow the kids to choose their topics but also have lists of idea joggers for times when they can't think of anything to write. The boys keep their journals in a notebook and dd keeps hers in a bought journal. I do not read their journal but once a week ask to see that they have competed the right number of entries. Nature journals are kept in spiral drawing books.

Bumping this topic, as I'm also looking for ideas.
I have a 9yo boy with a language processing disorder. He's done extremely well with R&S grammar, but I'm looking to GENTLY ease him into daily journal writing. I think I need a little creative push on this... won't be buying any writing curriculums but I need an idea of how to have him start (without having to hold him down to get it done LOL).
TIA!

I purchased a book with journaling ideas for every day of the year. It has 2 suggestions for each day, and also has interesting facts relating to that date. My kids LOVE it. We try to do it every AM before we start school. I bought it from a local school supply store.

LotW has writing??! Thanks! Headed to look there. (I knew they had more than phonics, and I do have preschoolers so I check in there periodically, but I'd missed this. LOL)

My ds10 is a reluctant writer, he'd rather talk than write. I read this somewhere, but we started a dialouge journal. I bought a composition notebook and each day (ideally) I write in it something for him to do. He has to write back the answer and turn in the journal before school the next day.
Somedays it is something simple pertaining to our studies, somedays it is something silly. A couple of weeks ago he wrote out the names of the Star Wars movies in order.
It has helped create some rapport between us without me feeling like I need to stand over him about it.

This sounds great! Could you maybe give some more examples, or maybe clue me in so I can search and read what you read to inspire this? Thanks!!
