We are buying a house just south of West Bend and would love the Homeschool scoop of the area. Dh wants to put at least the older two (15,13) in public high school. If we had remained in MD, we would have joined a classical coop. What are the options and support for homeschoolers in the N/W Milwaukee area.

I am also looking for referrals on piano teachers, ballet studios, choir/voice lessons.

We are staying at the Residence Inn in Brookfield. DH works in Menomonee Falls.

Anyone here has more details about the Kindergarten legislation they just passed? I know it is now mandatory, but will it be in effect as of 2010? So, those turning 5 next year, will have to send in their DPI? I am in disbelief such legislation even passed. Thanks. Be well

Yes, if you have anyone turning 5 you will have to send a form to DPI. Although Ithought it 2011 that it took effect. I need to look that up

Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is coming to Milwaukee for a FREE Welcome & Information Meeting and a fun Theater Workshop for the kids. This will be an evening for the whole family! Parents will learn about CYT, meet a few staff members from CYT-Chicago, and will have an opportunity for a Q&A time about the program. Interested children (ages 5-18) will be escorted to another room and will learn a musical theater number. The evening will conclude with the children's performance, prizes, and refreshments. My ds2 has been involved CYT over the last couple of years. It is a C 501 educational charity which focuses on theatre. CYT Kenosha will be having their last show of the year, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, up at Carthage College the first weekend of June. Thanks! We were looking at houses yesterday. My children are used to being in the city - Chicago - not far from downtown. they are used to lots of people, very close neighbors, and diversity. This change is going to be huge for them! I want to start coming to some park days or other homeschool gatherings before we move so they have a chance to start meeting people. Anyone have any good info for me?

If you are interested, on Tuesdays and Thursday a group in Waukesha county meet at a park in Brookfield. The park is called Marx Park and is off of Barker Road. We meet from 1 - 4pm or so. Let me know if you are coming. If I am not going to make I can let the group know that a newcomer will be coming so they can be on the lookout for you. Have you decided on a location yet?

Hey guys, I just want to let those of you in the Milwaukee area know about CYT (Christian Youth Theater) Milwaukee. They will be starting classes this Fall. Following is the information put out by my friend Lori Walla. Two of my boys are involved with CYT and LOVE it. I was a coordinator for two summer camps this summer.
