View Full Version : have you ever pretended you didn't make dinner?
DH pinged me from work on IM right before he left to ask what I had in mind for dinner - which is usually code for him wanting to get take out.......I actually have a pot of rice and a pot of black beans on the stove ready to go but if it means a meal out I'll just hold those babies till tomorrow!
Anyone else? :tongue_smilie:

I don't pretend, I just tell him we can have what I made for lunch tomorrow ;)

I haven't pretended. Dh is always good about me saving a meal for another night. Sometimes he is craving something in particular and I really am not big into cooking. It's a win all around.

I say, "Well, I've started, but it would work even better if I set it aside for tomorrow" lol... ;)

Definitely, it gives the flavors a chance to meld.

I just say "nothing interesting".
Ok well maybe "pretending" isn't accurate.....perhaps being purposely vague is more appropriate! :) Anyway - we all understand right :)

Enjoy your take-out! :-) I can't really imagine dh deciding spur of the moment to pick up take-out. We go out once a week, but it is usually planned ahead of time. He isn't much of a spur of the moment guy.

ROFL I tell DH we could have X (usually pasta), but it would be more delightful to eat something more palatable tonight!
He took us out Saturday night even though dinner was already made, in the fridge waiting to be reheated. That's my kind of day :)

We have to drive 90 miles to church, sometimes dh will ask me if I have anything planned for when we get home. If I tell him there's something in the crock we go home. If I tell him PB&J sandwiches, we eat out before we head back!

I wish my dh were more spontaneous like that! We get take out on Thursdays. We've all been sick off and on for a month so I've been spoiled a little more lately. Now we're all better and back to Thursdays only.

Well, if I really want to go out, I plan to cook something that my dh really doesn't like - then he decides to take us out anyway!:lurk5:
