I managed to walk, jog, lift weights, do my crunches and do yoga yesterday!
How did everyone else fare on their 30-day fitness challenges?
Doran, I know you were watching your food - I saw your "hungry" post. I was hungry then, too, just so you know.
I'm about to walk downtown to do my shopping. I'm going to have a huge salad for lunch after I go to my "abs and jabs" class.
Whew! I'd better get moving!

You did all that in a day??? My goodness, you're on fire. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/shocked017.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org)
I did a 45 minute "power walk". That was it. Hmmm - ya' think it's got something to do with the fact that my kids are at home? ;):D;)
Anyway, I felt good about that, and about my food choices for the day, even though I was hungry at night. Tonight is my 2 hour karate class, so that will be it for today.

I did a 12 mile walk on Saturday, a workout video on Sunday, and then 1 hour of Tae Kwon Do yesterday, and a 4 mile walk last night. I would like to get a short walk or something in today, but looking at my schedule, it doesn't look likely.
I did have a great salad for dinner last night, but other than that, I have not been making the best food choices. Something to work on...

I need some rallying here, gals. I know we're only in this for...what...five days now. But, where's the cheering section? Where's the idea swapping? Where ARE you people when all the goodies in the house start calling me simultaneously ("We are here! We are here!") and when my butt feels ever so content to stay seated.

I've done all right this week with food, I guess. I'm not going crazy with the whole "what to eat/not to eat" concept, but I have tried to cut back a little. Lots of salads for lunch. Smaller portions for dinner. Less random snacking. But, I can sense a little mental shift today -- a tad less enthusiasm. Too bad I don't have a set of scales. Maybe-baby I'd feel inspired by a tiny change in the numbers there, though I really care most about how my clothes feel, and it's too soon for changes there.
Except for one day when it rained before I got a big walk in (still managed a shorter one), I've been faithful to my 4 mile brisk walk everyday. Still seeking other workout options that suit me.
Others? How're y'all doing?

I am still resting. I thought I was Ok and looking forward to starting gentle stretches and this morning I felt something again. I am back to ice packs and ibuprofen for 48 hours. I really want to start exercising again!

Having wrestled for almost a year (last) with back issues, I can certainly sympathize! So, even stretching is out, huh? Yuck! Well, do give it time to mend. The exercises will still be there for you when your back has healed. I'll be cheering for THAT for you!

I was doing great until yesterday and then I didn't get any exercise and it was easier to munch.
Today I'm making an effort. I did yoga, I ate pretty healthy so far and tonight I'm going to take a killer walk. Having that chart stare me in the face every day is helping. So is the fact that dh is going to buy me the pair of shoes if I "win" out of his "allowance". Having him involved kind of makes it fun. He makes a big deal out of saying "You're so tiny!" every day and even though it makes me laugh every time I really appreciate it.
Doran, keep at it. Every time you feel like munching drink two huge glasses of water, LOL. You'll spend so much time in the little girls' room you'll have no time to snack.

I am cheering right back at you!
What I did last summer was to sign up at the President's Challenge website for the Active Lifestyle option and form a family group. That way we could log in and check how many points each of us had racked up so far. It was a bit of competition and a little bit of an incentive to keep going even if I didn't really feel like it!
Just keep going!

We went away for the weekend (totally unplanned trip), and I did absolutely nothing. I even brought the workout gear, but it still didn't happen. Come 5:00 tonight, however, I am going for a walk. (Unless it's raining, and then I will force myself to do some stuff at home.)
(I am telling all of you, so you can hold me accountable.)

I realized today that I'm going to have to start doing yoga twice a day to fill in my chart this month. Sigh. I can't let anything slide now at all. Not sure when I'm fitting in a walk today, but I did do yoga, weights and crunches.

Um, I could use some cheering too! I have been doing my exercise routine, but I have not been eating well like I would like. So, I gotta just do what I know I need to do!!!!
I'll cheer you on, if you cheer me on! (I'm not going to fit into my Seagal's uniform at this rate!!)http://www.chins-n-quills.com/forums/images/smilies/sFun_cheerleader2.gif

Hooray!!! Cheer!!! You can do it, Mindy. You can do it, Jennifer. Go, Laurel, go Laurel! Rah-rah-rah!
But.....hold on just a second. I'm feeling the need for some stroking, too. How come we can't also be proud of ourselves for the things we're doing WELL?! When I set out on this "journey", I promised myself that I'd exercise at least five days a week, and that I'd eat more conscienciously. I have. I did. But, over the weekend, I did not exercise at all (one day off, followed by a day of nasty weather), and I made a dinner that was total "comfort food", not low fat, etc. AND...I ate it! (*gasp!*) So, today, I felt kind of deflated, thinking I hadn't really done very well in my first week.
But, dangitall!!! We're doing some things right, girls. We are! Let's boost each other a bit not only by noting the stuff we feel we could improve, but by also patting each other on the backs for the accomplishments. 'Kay?!

How was that walk Doran? Way to go! (Cheer, cheer, cheer!)
I am happy to report that I did run/walk this evening. I could have gone over to a friend's for dinner, but I didn't. Yay me!

Yay, everyone! Yippee! Look at us go!
I am proud of what I'm doing and determined to succeed. It's all about lifestyle changes, anyway, right? Not just what we do this week.
We are so awesome!

I didn't "sign up" for the Fitness challenge, I hope I can still share. The past 2 weeks I have been exercising (Finally!) Leslie Sansone 1 mile aerobic walk 3x a week, plus I have been out raking leaves. I played wallyball at a teen overnighter we chaperoned Friday... for over an HOUR....I'm so sore:eek:
However, I have not been eating well consistently and have gained a pound instead of losing...very discouraging :(

I'm so glad I opened this post right now because I was just debating whether I should go to my aerobics class or skip it. Guess what, I'm GOING!!!
And you are right, Doran. We should celebrate the baby steps!
