View Full Version : Plus size ladies - if you were buying a tankini top and could choose
shorts or a skirted bottom, which would you get?
Thanks!

Skirted... it's more forgiving, IMO.

Skirt. I have lost a lot, but I didn't get to choose where. Skirts are much more forgiving.

Ditto to both your choice, and the sentiment expressed in your siggy. Sigh.

skirt. But have you seen Land's End's new suits? They have DD cups, now!
I wouldn't buy a tankini, opting for the slimming tank suits instead, but there are so many options now, aren't there?

I will never *ever* go back to the skirted suits! I have always hated how the skirt floats up and shows everything I was trying to hide in the first place. I bought a tankini with swim shorts last year, and it stays put--not to mention the fact that it's just a much less "matronly" look than the typical skirted suit, imo.:)

I have a swimsuit from LLBean with a tank type top and shorts and I love it so much more than a skirt. I hated how the skirt would float up and the cling terribly when I got out of the water.

the skirt rises up in the water...you spend too much time pushing it back down to cover up :-)
Shorts! And you can walk into stores/restaurants wearing 'summer' wear and not obviously a swimsuit at first glance.
I also would go with shorts. But I would even go further and get the longer shorts. They have those now.

Oh, I have that problem!! Especially during water aerobics class! I am constantly having to hold my weights in one hand while I use the other hand to try to calm all that fabric down. Of course I am doing all this while continuing to move so I keep my heart rate at the right spot on the chart on the wall! :willy_nilly:
But when I am walking from the pool to the locker room I feel more covered, so it's a trade-off.
I was reminded of how they float in the water. That's annoying! Thanks for helping me decide.
