Just as I was checking out (on the discovery site) I saw a message in small print at the top of the screen:

Warning: We can only ship Discovery Education Streaming Video-on-Demand within the US, excluding Alaska, Hawaii, US Territories, P.O. Boxes, APO and FPO addresses.

Does this mean it will not work for me? Are they saying Hawaii is excluded from the program or are they saying Hawaii is excluded from not being able to receive it? I can't tell from the grammar.

Bumping, I would call and ask the company but they're already closed, what is your best guess as to what this means as far as the wording goes? Does it mean "does not work outside US except for Hawaii, Alaska, etc" meaning it WILL work in Hawaii, Alaska, etc? GAH! So frustrating!

It sounds to me like you're out of luck. Sorry.

Obviously if PO boxes are excluded, Hawaii is also excluded. And if Hawaii were included, the use would mean that PO boxes in other countries would be able to use United Streaming, which is highly unlikely, IMHO.

IMO, they are saying that they will not ship it to Hawaii ~shipping is limited to the continental US.

But I don't have a PO BOx in Hawaii and Hawaii is part of the US *and* they aren't actually shipping anything? I'm confused why there is a problem.

The co-op's website says:

SPECIAL NOTE to International and Canadian members: We're sorry! This offer available to U.S. members only! Canadian members can purchase Discovery streaming exclusively through Waynor Media Communications (http://www.marlineducation.com/Waynor/Home.htm). Members of other countries should contact Discovery (http://www2.discoveryeducation.com/aboutus.cfm?pageid=contactus) for purchasing options in their countries.

Nothing about it not being available to Alaska and Hawaii. And I already paid the co-op for the coupon code. What should I do? Would you try it out and if it doesn't work ask for your money back or just skip it?

I'd just try, then call customer service if you have issues. FWIW, I considered signing up today, got the free trial instead, and was then barely able to get anything...don't know if the server(s) were maxed or what. I'm headed over to try again shortly.

Good luck! :raises Mike's Cranberry Lemonade: ;)

That's what hubby said. I went ahead and tried it but it will not accept my payment. So, nope, I guess it won't work for me. NOW I have to get a refund for my co-op fee. GRRRRRR...so annoying!!!!

that is really not a good way to do business in my opinion....as you stated before they are not *shipping* anything.

Sorry Mrs. Mungo :(

I was just about to post the same quote from the Homeschool buyers coop!! It only seems to say that this special purchase is only available to US participants... not for Canadians or other countries.
If I was you I would proceed with the purchase (as you say, they are not "shipping" anything, and for the life of me I cannot see why members from Hawaii or Alaska would be discriminated against.....it's not like they have some weighty package to mail!!)

good luck,
Elaine

OK, phew. The guy from the co-op called me and he was VERY nice. He said it's the first time they've had someone with this problem and seemed surprised nobody else had encountered it with as many orders as they've had. Long story short-I had my sister order it for me, sent her the money via paypal and I can access it just fine.
