Dd (13) used Hake Grammar 7. She loved the format of Saxon Math, so I had hopes that she would also enjoy the Hake grammar & writing programs. As it turned out, we only used it for grammar. Dd is very independent and did most of the exercises without any help from me. I felt it was a relatively thorough program though not as rigorous or complete as Rod & Staff, based on what I know of R/S. Dd enjoyed most of it, though parts of it were tedious.

We've used 6 and 8. I'm using this with my 11 yo son who has dyslexia and needs lots of review to get things into long term memory. It worked very well. He went from May to September last year with no grammar and when we picked it up again he hadn't forgotten any of it.

Hake would probably be overkill for a child who naturally gets grammar, but it was perfect for my son who struggles with both understanding and retention.
