Hi,

My wife and I have been following the Well Trained Mind for a couple of years now with our eldest (he's 7), but this is my first time on the forum. Has anyone else had any experience with MIT's OpenCourseWare program? (I know, I'm thinking way ahead...). Some of the courses are not much more than outlines, but others contain videos of the actual lectures as well as reading lists and assignments. I've looked at their 1st year physics and linear algebra courses and can say without hesitation that these are the best lectures on the subject ever made. The material is well within the capabilities of a bright and motivated home-schooled student. Here's the link, I'd be interested to hear what anyone else thinks about them (completely free by the way):

apologies if this topic has been covered elsewhere

I've noticed some here have used them as high school courses. If your younger child is interested, why not?

Enjoy! :)

Haven't tried them yet, but I'm sure looking forward to it. Look around on Google - there's another consortium of colleges that does pretty much the same thing, but it's not so math&science focused as MIT. Sorry, the name escapes me at the moment.

It was driving me crazy that I couldn't find it. LOL

Thanks for the link! Looks like a fantastic resource. All the lectures I mentioned in my initial post are included at AcademicEarth.

Thanks!!!
