During which level of MUS should I introduce the first book of Challenging Word Problems?
Thanks in advance.

Well, we started the MUS/Singapore CWP combo only this year (3rd grade: MUS Gamma and CWP2). Since you'll have to choose the CWP a book number lower than (American) grade level, you can start in your dc's late 1st or 2nd grade.

do you know what is in book 1? You think I can use it at the end of Alpha? Or at least buy it by then and use it during Beta? Thanks so much.

TOC for Book 1 is here:

MUS Alpha has addition and subtraction- so you can easily do the first half of CWP 1.

Actually- addition within 40 and within 100 is not taught in MUS Alpha (neither is multiplication and division). Truth be told, I have never looked at CWP 1- we started with the 2nd book. But-- some kids easily understand addition beyond 20, so I'm sure you can either go ahead with the CWP 1 if you think your child will understand it, or just wait some until MUS catches up and do those chapters later.
Fwiw, the CWP always explains at the beginning of each chapter how to work the problems (how to "show your work").
