Hello My name is Paula and Im new here! Yay so glad to have found you!
My son is 12 and is performing mostly at a 2nd grade level. He has visual and auditory process disorders . Currently he is doing well with vision therepy and soon will have auditory therepy. He has been diagnosed also with adhd and PDD-NOS. I keep him on a gluten free diet which then seems to make the adhd symptoms disappear. also I believe in his case the diagnosis is only the symptom and has more to do with the underlying cause of not processing well. Which brings me to my hope that WTM method will be helpful as I try to lay a more solid foundation for him and "cacth -up" so to speak as we also work on the therepy part of things. Just wondering from your experiences how the WTM has work for your little ones in lue ( sp?) of their special challenges?

BLessings!!!

I am currently repeating phonics with OPG , using FLL and wanting to begin WWE. IS this all too much? He seems to want to fall asleep during FFL!

I don't think the WTM products for reading and writing are designed for remediation. I think there are programs that work better on reading and written language than WTM for kids with disabilities. If your son is on a 2nd grade reading level, I would try either Phonographix tutoring (which you can continue with Reading Reflex and ABCDarien) or with an Orton Gillingham tutor (which you could continue with Barton or Wilson. I've been trained as an OG tutor using Wilson, but Barton seems to have better support for parents doing it themselves. I think it's helpful to get a real live tutor at least to start you off and whom you can pay for consultation as you go along. I like IEW for kids who have difficulty writing because it's so step-by-step. I do think FLL is good for grammar because so much of it is oral, but if he's falling asleep, that may not be a good match.

OTOH, The Story of the World on CD totally captivated my kiddo with disabilities. He LOVES history thanks to SOTW and has practically memorized the whole thing!
