Does anyone know the scoop on the Garth Williams illustrations? I've heard that the publisher is doing away with them, and if that is the case, I want to purchase them before this happens, even though my dd is not quite old enough for them yet. Does anyone know if this is true?

There is a series of the first five Little house books (http://www.amazon.com/Little-House-Collection-Full-Color/dp/0060754281/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1206899343&sr=1-2) where the Garth Williams illustrations are fully colored.

There are versions (http://www.amazon.com/Little-House-Book-Box-Set/dp/0061128554/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1206899343&sr=1-1) without the Garth William illustrations.

You might be interested in the Little house picture books (http://www.littlehousebooks.com/books/search.cfm?p=2&sf=all&sb=picturebooks&ss=ORDER%20BY%20Title) with illustrations inspired by Garth Williams:

According to Melissa Wiley's webpage here (http://melissawiley.com/books/), you'll still be able to get hardbacks with the illustrations.
