I am going to buy our dfd18mths a little table and chair. I see lots of options but have found a chair that seems really stable. Do you have a set that you have been really impressed with? or a set that you would avoid?
I will start looking on Craigslist today but hate to go look at something that isn't worth our time.

I like the plastic Ikea tables (I think they're Mamut, but I don't have a catalog to check). My ds's school uses them for preschoolers and they've held up well.

we also have the plastic table from IKEA and they have done really well. We have had to replace 2 stools though here recently. One was sitting up on top pf the ironing board so my 18 month old couldn't use it to get into stuff and it got knocked off onto a tile floor and the leg broke. Our other one that broke my ds 4 was standing on it and making it rock back and forth. My kids are extremely rough on things. So I think all in all they have held up. we've had them for about 2 yrs. Also we went to Ikea and purchased replacement stools. We really do like them.

IKEA vote here -- durable and inexpensive.

that can collapse and go over to someone else's house or into the back yard instead of table and chair. No scooting up the chair, no tripping over the chair in the dark, easy to clean and still looked great when we gave it away.

I don't care for plastic, so I had both an Ikea wood table and chairs (very basic, unfinished wood) and a set from Target (windsor-type chairs). The Target chairs were much more difficult to tip, though neither of my kids had any trouble with either set. They lasted us for many years, till I eventually gave them away to others.
We used ours a *lot* and those tables and chairs turned out to be great purchases.
I doubt it matters all that much *which* you choose though. ;)
