I have been so happy with how my son has been doing with R&S Math now that we have hit level 5, I just wanted to share it with someone.

He's used R&S since the beginning after some trial and error with another program. It has always gone well for him until the 4th grade book. It's not that he did terrible in the 4th grade book, but it was such a leap from the first 3 levels it really stretched him. He was struggling a little for the first time with this program and it took him forever to complete his lessons.

Well, enter the 5th grade book and it is mostly a review of the 4th grade book. I know some would hate that, but it just seems so right to me. He is totally grasping everything he is doing and all the tough fraction stuff he learned in 4th grade is really being solidified to the point where it is easy for him now. To me, this is just what he needed and I am so impressed with R&S for designing their program this way.

I'm sure it would be too much review for many children, but it's been so perfect for him. I wanted to share because it feels like such a positive thing for my son and also in case there are others experiencing what we did with the 4th grade book.

Thanks for posting that! I think review is a great thing. And I love (we really should have a heart icon) Rod & Staff Math!

We took a year off of Singapore to solidify knowledge with Rod and Staff. I really like the practical aspects of Rod and Staff (though I tire with all the agricultural applications) and the review. I love the review!

We worked through Singapore 5B. We're now finishing up Rod and Staff 7th. We'll go back to Singapore 6A and 6B which should be a review of R&S 7th, but from a different angle. Then I think we'll be ready to proceed to Algebra I.

Thank you so much for sharing this. My son struggles with some math concepts, and I am currently searching for something to supplement Singapore for him. I'll check out R&S!
