I noticed that you have to pay for each store included. Where I live I get a choice of 1 grocery and 2 drug stores.
What do you do for store choices?
How is it working for you?
What kinds of stuff do you end up buying?
Tell me a little about how you use it.
We're thinking about it.
Thanks.:001_smile:

Hi,
We have used it for two years now and love it! Every time we go to the store, we save at least 40%. We have two lists: Publix (grocery store) and Walgreens. When we first started, Walgreens was free...now you have to pay for it. Walgreens has a lot of really good deals on the grocery game list. The whole idea behind it is stockpiling...buying items when they are at their lowest price...so that you are never pay full price for things. We buy all kinds of things...personal care products, grocery items, paper products, make-up, frozen items, laundry products, cleaning products. I will say, that if you are very organic or make all your own food, then it may not be worth it. With 3 boys, we have found it very worthwhile! We only buy meat from Sam's now and we use a local produce stand for our produce...the rest is off the list.
We use it weekly. Now our monthly budget for food, including a monthly eating out dinner, is $450....for a family of 5 (3 boys...15, 13, 10).
If you sign up, please use my e-mail as a referral! (weaveit@tampabay.rr.com) You can earn free weeks if you refer people.
You have to be disciplined to do it. It's worth the $300 a month we are saving!
If you have any questions, e-mail me or pm me!
Good luck!

I used it for the trial period and decided it wasn't going to work for our family. For one, the grocery stores they listed, I don't shop at regularly because I don't care for their produce. Which brings me to the other reason - we buy a lot of fresh produce and organics and those things were very rarely listed as on sale with coupons. I would have only been using it for basics like toothpaste, paper towels and toilet paper. To me, it wasn't worth the monthly fee. But I know for some people who shop differently than I do, it is a huge cost saver and well worth it. You just need to assess your needs and what you usually buy. Hope that helps!

We use it and love it. We only buy one grocery store shopping list, and we easily make up for the cost of the list in one week. We did have to change our regular grocery store, but I'm glad we did. We actually like the new store better than our old store.
We buy all of our grocery items. I shop CVS using moneysavingmom.com, so I have no need to buy toiletries at the grocery store. We're not big on processed foods, so we don't purchase those too often. This (processed food and the TONS of coupons out there for them) is the biggest reason I hear people not liking Grocery Game, but I like the list best for the reason Janna didn't like it - fresh produce! Before Grocery Game, I never knew when produce was at a good buy. (I know, I should have kept a price book). But now, my list lets me know what produce is on sale and at what percent off.
Oh, and please ignore my sentence structure today - I can't seem to make coherent sentences today. :tongue_smilie:

I have a choice of lots of stores where I live, but I just stick to grocery stores. I've tried using the drug stores before, but too many lists didn't work for me. I just don't have that much time to shop! So, I get the best two grocery store lists in my area and stick to that.
I've been doing it for about 3 years and am doing really well with it. I've saved a tremendous amount of money...enough to send my DD to private school one year! We eat pretty healthy around here and have a big family, so I get minimum 3 papers a week (used to do 10--definitely overkill!) so that when the healthier items are on the list, I can really stockpile them well. We avoid as much of the junk as possible, so yes, this does eliminate a bunch of coupon items. However, I've found that if you want to be selective about what you buy, you can definitely do it with the Grocery Game.
You may spend more on fresh produce and raise your overall bill, but the savings are still significant! Getting a vacuum sealer has really helped me...I've gotten pretty creative about stockpiling those fresh items through freezing! Also, I have a very large stockpile of trans-fat free, sugar free, otherwise healthier choices in my basement and a huge stockpile of household items such as tolietries, cleaning supplies, tp, etc.
Trial memberships are only a $1 (or at least they were when I started!)...you can get as many lists as you want for that price for 4 weeks. Just remember that sales go on a 12 week cycle...if you hit it during a time that only processed foods are on the list, it will seem skewed. My best advice would be to try it for a full 12 week cycle before deciding if it is for you.
Best of luck.

Thanks. I'm not sure that it will work for us.:001_smile:
