I can't believe that we've been married almost 11 years and have not taken a weekend getaway without the children ever (except for one work related retreat). Our honeymoon was the last real getaway.
So we are already planning our (becoming annual) trip to California for July. Firstly we are going to visit with family of course and just enjoy my wonderful home state. I will always love California.
Secondly, I'm hoping that I can go to at least part of the BlogHer conference, hoping that I might get to meet some of my favorite bloggers... I'm just hoping that Ree goes this year! :D Ree, I so want to meet you IRL!
And thirdly my parents are going to watch the kids and pay half for a weekend getaway and let us escape to a bed and breakfast for two nights!! I am possibly more excited about this than I was about our honeymoon! ROFL :p
So I chose a place last night and made the reservations. It's called The Old Thyme Inn (http://www.oldthymeinn.com/). Is that not just the most quaint and well appointed place? Half Moon Bay is a special place to us too as it's one of the landmarks of our "love story." (Gosh, I'm starting to sound all sappy now.)
I suppose dreaming and planning for the summer helps me survive the land of eternal winter! LOL Just wanted to share my excitement!
