Hi! I've just received Henle for dd-6th and I am so worried I have overdone it for me. I ordered early so that I could get ahead of dd by the fall. I have also made some changes in our curriculum plan for next year. I have a definite new attitude. I guess since this is 6th grade coming up I really feel like we should get serious now!! I want less books and more intense work with them if that makes sense.

This is our new literature plan:
Term 1- Irving's short works (Rip Van Winkle and Sleepy Hollow)
Norse Gods and Heroes
The Hobbit
Poetry: "Paul Revere's Ride" and others from Harp and Laurel Wreath

Term 2- Puck of Pook's Hill (Kipling)
Poetry: Kipling

Term3- Anne of Green Gables
Poetry: Tennyson

This doesn't include history supplements and independent reading choices.
I also want to increase her writing skills and independent work time.
I know this is the way we need to go and I feel good about that. Yes??

Thanks for any support. I could use it.

I am and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I didn't have any Latin before. Latin is very logical. Henle is self-explanatory. It's a memorizing exercise. If you're willing to spend the time memorizing it, you can do it.

BTW, the Henle CD's aren't as useful for car work as LCI were. I recommend making your own, similar to LCI if you're in the car as much as I am.
