I'm so glad he managed to finish translating the Aeneid and I'm sad we won't have any more of his wonderful translations to look forward to.

What treasures he did leave us....

We made it happily through The Iliad and are now in the middle of The Odyssey, and I just ordered The Aenid yesterday. I feel strongly that his translations have opened up a whole new world of literature for us.

Wow, I didn't realize he published the Aeneid at age 72, and I'm saddened to hear that he lost his battle with cancer. However, his life is an impressive example of "continuing education". I would like to be just as productive during my golden years too.
