We're considering Hillsdale for ds#2 and I have a question regarding scholarships which I cannot seem to find the answer to on the website.

Other colleges/universities have their academic merit scholarship requirements online but I can't find that at Hillsdale. Does that mean that their requirements change based on the student population for the year?

Do they use ACT/SAT scores as a measure of scholarship? Our state university offers Honors level scholarships for an ACT of 29/30. Anyone know how that compares with Hillsdale? Also, the website indicated that a student might get additional scholarships based on talent/ability. Would that happen if the talent or ability was not part of the student's degree plan? IOW, could a student majoring in Finance get a music scholarship?

TIA

Since all their scholarships are in-house, I don't know how you'd compare them w/the majority of schools. Margaret in CO's dd is going there so she can give you more info.

Dd graduated from Hillsdale 3 years ago. At that time, they had a half-tuition scholarship for an ACT of 30 and up and full-tuition for a 34. Not every student got them, but those were the cutoffs. However, they have made a BIG push for raising ACTs in the last 5 years (successfully) so those numbers may have changed. Dd entered on one of those scholarships (the half) and was awarded music money on top of it. That music money was raised several times. I don't know about music money for a finance major as my dd was a music major. The music department has really expanded in the last few years, so music money may stay with majors. The scholarships are an interesting thing--they have specific sponsors, and the students usually go out to a formal dinner once or twice a year with their sponsors. Dd was VERY nervous her senior year, as her sponsor (elderly man) passed away. She got a lovely phone call a few days later from the man's grandson, telling her that his g'pa had left enough to help her until graduation!

She has a similar sponsor for some of her grad school money from CU. In fact, her sponsor "mom" made a point of finding me at an early music recital last night and chatting and telling me how excited they are for dd's Master's recital in a few weeks. I really like this sponsor idea.

btw--when dd went to Hillsdale, the cutoff to be considered for the Honors Program was also a 30. I highly recommend the HP.

Thank you, Janice! That page is very helpful. I had found a bit of information on the FAQs page, but this is much more detailed and helpful.
