Good God in heaven (and the good folks on the boards).
Why do they choose to make it so hard? :confused:I know I have set a better example than this! :ack2: Why was I stoopid enough to think that they were going to be easier to deal with as they got older? :crying: Give me a toddler with the "terrible two's" anyday! How many bad days in a row can a parent survive? The stress is just so constant! It is really wearing me down.

Grant me the patience not to kill them all today (Now please don't get judgemental with me- no need to call CPS, I promise :o). Help me watch my tongue when others choose not to. Help me to model what I want them to be, and not nag them for not being everything I know they can be. Give me strength to guide them through these horrible, yucky, teenage behaviours- may they see for themselves that kindness and respect work better than denials, refusals and lack of respectfulness. Help me to resist the urge to cry and scream and kick my feet. Help me hold it all together, and give me the grace to give to the rest of the family.

May I look at my life not as stress and chronic pain filled, but see it as full of purpose and possibility. Help me to be grateful for all I have.
Mybe I need a :grouphug:. And a :chillpill:. And maybe a good .
Thank you for listening.
Amen.

Aww sweetie, I'm sorry. Can I offer you a hug from afar and a Mike's? I hope it gets better very soon.

Thing One: Can you please edit your subject line to better express how you really feel?:D

Thing Two: Praying to see the purpose and possibility rather than the stress? Right there with ya, sister...

Oh man. Sounds like a rough week. ((((hugs)))) Oh - and can I join you in a MIkes? (Actually, I'm already two glasses into a nice bottle of merlot, so the Mike's may be overkill!! LL)

Okay- you actually made me giggle. Really giggle. Thanks. And as much as I hate going to the store (already been there once today, sigh.), I may just have to go and get me a real Mike's. I haven't been drinking alcohol for the last couple of months (it makes my tummy hurt), so I may be able to splurge and have just one......

It has been a yucky week. I just cannot seem to change my attitude- it is like I have hit a saturation point. The endless stoopid noises, the sassing, the bickering, all of it is just making me a nervous, irritable wreck. I know I could be choosing differently, but it seems so physically impossible right now.

Thanks so much for the sympathy- I will be back in 15 minutes- I am going to brave a run to the crime-laden corner store for one lone bottle of Mike's. Get ready to have one with me......

...I feel bad for turning so many people on to Mike's, like some sort of drug pusher.

And then that five seconds passes.;) I don't generally "do" Mike's when it's not warm out, which of course it definitely is NOT right now. But I'm going running in a bit here, and right after that, a hard lemonade would hit the spot. I may have to pick one up, too. I'm pretty sure that's why grungey American corner stores exist. To tranquilize stressed parents ~ whether it be by a Mike's, a pint of ice cream, or a box of something rilly, rilly icky with a shelf life of 127 years.

Copy that. How many, many times have the words, "KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!!!" exited my mouth this week? Sigh.

My quote for the week is "turn around! feet under your desk!"

*avatar drinks up* it's not even 2 pm here, I can't *actually* drink yet ;)

You pusher you! LOL! I was turned on to them long before this though, truth be told. Have you ever tried Ciderjack's Hard Apple Cider? YUM! I can't get it here (that I am aware of). We used to get it in NY and it was tasty!

We have a fantaboo place here that makes their own hard cider. Lovely stuff. Just luvverly.

But enough of this talk! If I don't get out the door and run NOW I may end up opening a bottle of blackberry wine. Must go. Now. I think I can, I think I can...

And then that five seconds passes.;) Thanks, Colleen, for another giggle. Actually, I discovered Mike's years ago, when I realized I was allergic to wine. It is a good alternative to me.

LOL. We left the kids at home to kill each other while we were gone, and my Dude actually drove me to the real store, where of course we spent way more money than I had intended. But it was nice- he pushed the cart, didn't expect me to make conversation, and touched my hand and smiled at me in the checkout line. Amazing how much that helped. And he made me buy a whole rack of Mike's instead of just one, and a James Bond movie I haven't seen yet. Woo hoo! Let the recovery begin.

I bet! And for the record, there is not much that relaxes and cheers me more than borrowing toddlers. I have two that I regularly borrow. Love it! Just pop them in the mail, and I'll pay the return postage in a week or two! :D Thanks for the commiseration.

I trust you have posted about the precise reasons you love your Dude in the "I love my [Dude] because..." thread.

He buys me wonderful presents. Today, he called the present Mike. He drives me around to places where I won't get mugged buying my sedatives. Sometimes, he knows better than to talk to me. And, he allows me to bring chickens into our lives.

Can't ask for more!

Hope your weekend is better than your week. If you want a non-alcoholic lift, just go sit with those little peeps. They'll bring a smile.

How many bad days in a row can a parent survive?

I lost count.

Your self-talk is better than the one I give myself. Somebody needs to staple my lips shut!

I do so much better when no one speaks to me. How's that for coping skills?

Oh Doran! I love you! :001_smile: You are so funny!! That isn't what I put in the thread, but that is absolutely perfect!!

Things are definitely better here- we all folded an entire couchful of laundry while watching James Bond (hubba hubba), and I had 2 Mike's and a bowl of stew. Kids are off to bed now, and I am following. Thank God for the weekend, and friends like all 'y'all. For this I am truly grateful.

I hear ya'. It was all I could do not to yell at them- it makes it so much worse. That's why I came here to vent. Here's to lip stapling!:001_smile:

Well, if it's any consolation to you, rum still rules around here. Mikes are only for very hot summer afternoons when the yard work is over. Horse work requires something stiffer.
