I'm trying to decide betweent these two programs for my beginning speller (kindergarten, tho we might not start spelling till we have reading more solid). Any thoughts?

I started All About Spelling with my ds6 who is an accelerated reader, but does not spell well at all. I really like the approach of the program. It is phonetic based and will even aid in teaching your dc to read. At least I plan on that with my ds4 when we start it next year. it is perfect for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners with the use of the letter tiles and phonics. We have enjoyed it and it is working well for us so far.
As far as Apples and Pears, I have no experience with it so I can't help you there, but I am sure someone on the boards can.
Hope this helps!
Oh, and AAS does offer a one year money back guarantee if you are not seeing results.:)

I know nothing about Apples and Pears, but we're using All About Spelling and I really like it. We're not far enough into it to know how effective it will be, but I love the multi-sensory approach, and that it combines skills necessary for reading and spelling.

Can someone provide a link for apples and pears? I can't seem to find it on google. Thanks!

I think she meant this Apples and Pears. (http://www.prometheantrust.org/usshop.htm)
We have completed Book B of this program and it has been a tremendous help for my daughter's spelling. It incorporates dictation into each and every lesson. She probably could have started with a higher level book according to the placement tests, but I wanted to really solidify the basics. I just ordered Book C and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. I am so very pleased with this program!

Thanks for the link. I have been wanting to have a look at this. We are doing AAS and so far I am happy with it. But it seems Apples and Pears has a lot of strengths too.
