Thanks for that thread! My husband gave me a big wedge of aged Gouda for my birthday and I'd been snacking on it since my birthday. After that thread I didn't eat any more and I'm almost back to normal. The only thing keeping me a little off is that my jaw muscles did a lot of clenching during the migraines and need to relax back to normal. I also have been super careful of my caffeine intake, so I feel pretty sluggish. No more aged cheese for me- Waaahhhh... but it is nice to have my brain returning. Thanks! I've temporarily cut out all the cheese because I'm not sure if Dubliner would do the same thing. I'll test it out later when my jaw recovers.

I am so glad that you found your trigger. What a bummer when it it something you really like but of course it is so nice be able to avoid those horrible migraines.

Hooray! Not fun to lose a tasty food, but so much less expensive than medication and fewer risks of side effects:D.

I'm glad you found your trigger. Mine turned out to be chocolate and msg. Chocolate and msg are everywhere! It's like walking through a minefield every day! But it is definitely worth being pain free!

I learned that about 4 years ago and it was terrible. It took months to realize what was going on.

I wish I could find my trigger. I have optical migraines that appear to be related to stress and/or hormonal surges. I got my first migraine when pregnant with my 3rd daughter. They've come and gone since then, pregnant or not. I do know that I cannot take some amino acids because they trigger the migraines - SAM-E, tyrosine, etc. But, even after eliminating those things, I still get them.

Have y'all received any relief from acupuncture? I may try it next.

Congrats on finding the culprit. Bummer on the results, though, as I enjoy cheese. Never met a cheese I didn't like--but they don't all like me. Certain ones will push me into migraine mode. Can't eat most cheeses when I'm already hungry, or low on protein.
Hopefully you can indulge periodically on gouda and your dubliner.

As much as I like Dubliner too, I wouldn't chance it. That stuff is well aged and aged, hard cheeses are the ones that are triggers. I have been eating Smiling Cow spreadable Swiss without getting headaches. It's not the same, I know :(, but it's something!

Wonderful! Splenda is out for me too. I'm glad you're feeling better. Migraines stink.
