A friend and I are considering doing either the Breaking Free or other counseling course from www.lightuniversity.com. I was just wondering if anyone else has done these and how they are. Do they have discounts for sharing the DVDs and just buying extra workbooks?
Any cons to these programs? We are not looking to do any formal counseling but rather build our skills for dealing with people we meet with in every day life.

i received one of those brochures in the mail.but i can't seem to find their site.it says in the brochure that it doesn't certify you for anything,i checked online courses they went up to 3,000 for one degree, which is a big difference from the $450 they are charging...sounds like a scam to me,you should check out some of joyce meyers cd's www.joycemeyer.org (http://www.joycemeyer.org) on her site you can watch her show and previous shows,i have a great deal of her cd series and have learned soooo much(she has 100's of subjects most of which are the same subjects covered in the light academy brochure)so if you are not trying to get a degree you should check her out.i think you'll love her!!!all of the money you pay for the cd series is donated and tax deductible.she also shows on her site where the moneys going.God bless-M

I wanted to add to my post to say that I am 59, my children are grown, I have been through divorce and other traumatic changes over the course of my life. I feel that I have a lot to offer in the area of Christian Counseling, however, my ministry is a non profit organization. In that I will be at some point, opening my own office, in or out of my home, but it will be funded with free will offerings or whatever the counselee can afford, and not a set hourly rate.

Love it when a post brings out the google searches in people...:glare:
Little better than spam, in my mind.
I've received those brochures, too, and briefly entertained the idea of getting more info, but decided my life is full enough.
Hope you find someone who HERE who knows more.
