Dd is a good speller and learns well enough using worksheets. We're finishing Horizons Spelling & Vocab 1 but I would like to switch because I feel like it just skims the surface, although she does well on the tests.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

I also have a good speller that loves workbooks. We use SWO (Spelling Workout) and are very happy with it.

I'm not sure what you have in mind, but you may look at Rod & Staff Spelling by Sound and Structure if you haven't already done so. My oldest started R&S Spelling in 2nd grade. He loves it and it's one of the things in our curriculum that I could never imagine doing without. The words are not hard at that level, but the exercises are very valuable. Grades 2 and 3 reinforce the sounds in the words. In 4th grade, they begin to learn spelling rules. I plan to stick with R&S for all of the levels. I love how word root studies are included in the upper levels. The words on the lists have not been difficult at this point, but I have found he is able to transfer his knowledge to other words and it is really developing his confidence (he is just now beginning to enjoy writing).

I second R&S. The words are fairly easy for ds at 2nd grade, probably will be for yorus as well. But we both like it. The girls are using 5th and 7th grade. It's going well for everyone.

Another SWO user here. I narrowed the choices down to 2 or 3, then had dd7 give her input. She likes the workbook format, especially for spelling.

I hadn't looked at R&S, but we'll check it out. Great idea to narrow it down and let dd choose. It's important that she like it.
Thanks!
