For those of you with dark skies in the western hemisphere...
The moon and Jupiter are about the same distance from the horizon. Jupiter is a large "star" to the left of the moon--not really close, but large and beautiful...
The sun is coming up here, and there are only a few objects in the sky that are still visible, so it is easy to spot Jupiter. :-)
FWIW.

How wonderful Jean. It is Earth Hour here in Copenhagen. I will go and see if the sky is dark enough.

Hi Jean,
I'm an infrequent poster, but I wanted to let you know that you and your blog and your telescope had me telling my DH all about the little telescope I bought with my own money when I was just 8 years old. And for Christmas he surprised me with...a telescope! This is NOT the kind of gift he would usually think of. Now, I just need to learn how to use it - I can do the usual point-and-find, but it also has computer gizmos to track and find objects. Just waiting for warmer weather.

How fun! It took me a while to learn the computerized Meade handset, but I enjoy it a lot, now. Thanks for telling me!
