My DD is 3/4 of the way through EPGY level 6 but didn't pass the Epsilon competency exam I gave her today. :001_huh: She's "forgotten" it.

I don't know much about either of those programs, but I imagine she could forget things pretty easily, especially if things aren't reviewed every so often.
With Singapore, there are a couple layers of built in reviews that provide opportunities to catch things before they are long forgotten: there are the "Reveiw" sections every month or two and then I also use the Intensive Practices books every couple years to review an entire year/level if I feel the kid needs a bit of reinforcement before proceeding. . .
Is there anything in EPGY that could provide you with that kind of retention-screening and/or review? Once you identify the lapses, it will probably be quick work to review/relearn. Heck, I think a lot of math repeats itself over and over. . . so maybe a lot of math is simply the act of reviewing and then adding a bit more, rinse, repeat. . .

Thanks Stephanie, for reminding me. I order MUS prealgebra to play around with as an "easier" option to go with the EPGY, I thought the Honors material might be different. It should arrive today. I understand there are review sheets from lower levels with each lesson so I'm not going to panic yet, now that I have calmed down. She has moved through so much math this year I could easily see where she could "forget", looking back I also notice that the problems are written in a different format than she is used to, and she didn't really want to do the assessment, all of which could have contributed. I'm going to see what comes in the mail today to plan an approach.

Mel I am not familiar with Epsilon, but wondering if took the exam at the end of EPGY 3? That covers most of the level 3 concepts doesn't it?

She took the EPGY exams for 4th and 5th without any problem. She was already passed the point so she didn't take the exams for 3rd. She was actually in PS for 3rd.
Epsilon is fractions. She didn't so great on the Zeta, which is decimals but she hadn't had exposure to repeating decimals. We are also working on decimal placement after multiplying long strands of decimals so that wasn't a surprise. I'm not sure where these where in EPGY. I'm debating just printing up some worksheets from Epsilon and Zeta and having her work those on the side to review. I'd hate to have to buy the whole program for each. I do see where these concepts are reviewed on occassion in the prealgebra so that might also help. She did do Kumon Fractions and Decimals through 6th grade and did well, so maybe she is just "rusty". We also own LOF but she can't stand the story.
