Beans in the crockpot - do I need to boil/soak?

I want to make Pioneer Woman's beans, but in the crockpot. Do I need to boil them or soak them overnight first?

I tend to soak them because I think it adds to the nutritional content.
I don't think it's necessary though.

I put the dried beans in with water and a splash of olive oil. About 3 hours on high and they're done.
