Hi,
Trying to decide whether to get the quiz book or not for World History. Your views? How useful is it?
Thanks,

We use the daily lesson questions; we discuss them orally a couple of times per week. Haven't used the quizzes yet. We are studying American History and most of the questions are too detailed for us. I don't require ds to be able to answer them all, just most of them. If I didn't use the questions at all, I know he wouldn't read & take notes as carefully as he does, knowing that he will have to answer questions. I wish the questions were more general, but they aren't.
Sometimes I just use my son's textbook, and ask him to tell me what he knows about each section heading in the lesson.

I like the questions they have for each day of work or another words each lesson but their weekly quizzes are a joke. They are ten question multiple choice answers. My children never did less than 100 on them. Their quarterly quizzer are better but still multiple choice at least until you get to their American Government courses. So the long and short of it is yes, I would get them and as the other poster said they'd be a good jumping off point for discussion and if you needed concrete evidence of success you can give the quarterly quizzes.

Nope. But then, I'm not real big on tests/quizzes for most subjects. We're using Notgrass American History and really enjoying it, reading aloud/discussing all together. BEST of luck, whatever you decide! Warmly, Lori D.

Okay, do you find it easy to have your kids to short essay responses vs quizzes? I'm trying to remember if there are essay assignments, etc. I think so...

There are lots of essay assignment ideas and research paper ideas throughout both volumes of the textbook, so I did not even purchase the quiz/test book.
