There are so many water purifiers out there! What do you recommend? We have city water and soon to be 10 people. I don't want something mounted on my faucet.

We have been using a Brita water filter, not a jug, but a tank, which we keep in our refrigerator.

Would you recommend something better than the Brita?

We probably use 4-5 gallons a day of drinking water.

Thanks,
Kendall

We have a countertop one from Sears, it takes out everything and makes great tasting water, however, I think it is now discontinued.

Most of the people I know love their British Berkfield. I hope I spelled that right! It sits on your counter top, I think there are different sizes, it is expensive but it does not use electricity, which is pretty neat. I don't know what amount it can filter per day though.

Our Sears model can do up to six gallons, but we only drink 2 per day for the 4 (5) of us.

We have two different pure water "sources". I bought a "Multi- Pure" system that goes under the sink (and hooks to the faucet). But no one will use it! So what we do now is I buy our water at our food co-op. I bought three 5 gallon jugs which we fill every couple of weeks (when two of the 3 jugs are empty). I also bought a pump that fits on it. We have it on a stand in the kitchen.

Reverse Osmosis is good from what I hear.
Britta jug filters take out chlorine - nice, but they don't take out the flouride which is very toxic. So - if you have city water - get heavy duty.

When we hit that much water drinking as kids, my mom started buying water through one of those delivery services...like a water cooler at work. I know you can buy the cooler part at most Wal-Marts, then just get the bottles delivered.

We have a refrigerator with a filtered water system. Both the water dispenser and ice is filtered. We didn't buy the fridge for this purpose, but if we ever have to buy another one, it will have the same feature. We replace the $40 filter twice a year, and the water is great and convenient.

We have a Big Berkey and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! We've had it for 2 years and wouldn't trade it for anything!

It's from Lowes. It is supposed to be mounted under the sink, but I couldn't really afford to lose the space, so it is (rather complicatedly, it seems to me) mounted downstairs underneath where the sink is. It is not attached to the faucet. We had to buy a new faucet set up so we would have room for the reverse osmosis' spigot.

We have only had it since Christmas, but had been considering this for a few years. So far, we're really happy with it.

There are only four of us, but we drink almost nothing but water and we've never run out. I believe they have different sized tanks available if you felt you needed a larger capacity.

We're another RO family. Ours is the Watts Premier purchased from Costco. We LOVE it. We left our old one in the old house to sell and purchased another for the new house.

I'll have to check the name of ours. I've completely forgotten. It's a dual filter that mounts under the sink, then has it's own faucet which you install above. It's served us well. We had to do something other than the faucet mount Pur filters. They didn't last long enough..the filters NOR the units. I have HOW many people in this house getting water repeatedly throughout the day !?! It just couldn't hold up to our use. But we couldn't afford a whole house reverse osmosis which we'd REALLY like.

I'm wanting to think ours is called something like "SmartWater" "SmartFilter" ?? Seems like 'smart' is in there somewhere. We bought it at Home Depot. I think Lowes *may* have the same thing.
