While reading through College Confidential, I found several threads recommending Xiggi's SAT study tips.
The gist of it was to buy the College Board's SAT book and work through it one section at a time without timing. Do just one section, then check the answers and figure out why you incorrect answers were incorrect and why the answers the book had marked were correct.
Also, for the essay, it said to carefully read the prompt and then come up with 2-3 examples (at least 2, but preferably 3). Your intro paragraph can be as short as 2 sentences. They aren't expected miracles with only 25 minutes from start to finish. Make sure that your thesis makes sense for the examples you chose. Make sure to stay on topic. Be sure to come to a conclusion. Your concluding paragraph can also be quite short, 2-3 sentences will do.
We're starting SAT practice this week.
