My third grader is using the third level of Language Lessons and I want to know what others have done for fourth grade language arts. I have been using Rod and Staff for my older son, but not sure if I should have my young soon to be fourth grader do the third grade R&S book or the 4 grade one. I am not sure he could handle all the writing in either book. Any other suggestions would be helpful. Thanks,
Heather in Oregon

Have you seen the Lang. Lessons Level 4 available this summer from, Peace Hill Press? If that isn't what you wanted, I would put him in R&S 4. You could do the lessons all orally with diagramming on a white/chalk board. Another option, if you want to find another writing program, is Growing With Grammar. My guys love it.

I think a good transition from FLL3 would be to the Queen's Homeschool Language Lessons. I looked at her Secondary Language Lessons for dd, but I know they have younger levels. From the samples on their website, it looks a lot more do-able than Emma Serl's Language Lesson book (written so long ago.)

My third grader is using FLL3 also. We will be going into FLL4 in the fall. I would love to see a FLL5 for the following year, but we will be using R&S 5 if there isn't.

Thank you for your responses. No, I had no idea there was a new LL4 coming out soon. I am so excited. I think I will definatley do that. My older son who is in the Rod and Staff 5 just hates all the writing. I wonder if this is workbook style like the third level. My third grader will do much better with the workbook style. I'm going to check it out right now!
