My daughter is in a small theater company that is having a weekend of one act plays & a dessert auction as a fund raiser. I'm supposed to make something for it. I love making desserts & have some ideas, but I wondered if anyone had experience seeing what goes over well at an auction.

They are easy and inexpensive to make, and they can really look amazing. Plus they aren't quite your everyday dessert.
I saw mine go for $50 dollars (a plate of 12) several times.
I guess it depends on how hot it is by you already, or if this is indoors.

Chocolate ..... double chocolate....... triple chocolate
The last one we did for our church the items I made that were chocolate went first.

I also think cheesecakes would be good. I love them but I never make them myself.:iagree:

Is it in the evening? If so, a pan of cinnamon rolls. Sweet enough to be considered "dessert" but oh, so tempting for all the tired folks who don't even want to think about preparing breakfast the next morning.
Otherwise, you can't go wrong with chocolate...hmmm...cinnamon rolls with chocolate sauce...

I vote chocolate too; that's what I buy...and eat.

:iagree:I like flavored cheesecakes.:iagree:I was thinking cheesecake, especially chocolate cheesecake, or chocolate chip cheesecake, or white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Do you sense variations on a theme here? :001_smile:

JacquiThe ones that draw the big bids at our church's auction are those ooey-gooey trifle things with layers of candy bar pieces, whipped cream, chocolate mousse, etc. No real baking involved, but the ingredients aren't the cheapest either.

I got proposed to because of my Linzer Torte. His wife was hitting him while he did so!:D

I've been to lots of cake auctions. The fancy cheesecakes, anything decadently chocolate, or something that is slightly unusual but pretty. Also nicely decorated carrot cakes.
