So swimming is back on for another 8 week session (twice a week for an hour each time). Soccer has started (practices of an hour each 2 times a week with Sat. games). The prep time for walking out the door -- seems like forever.

Do you take a break from extra things during your busy seasons and work more on the core subjects for a short period of time? And then pick them up again when time is more open. Perhaps do some of those things in the summer.

This is the first week back for these activities. I am wishing to avoid the stress of not getting it done. So I am thinking of pulling back from some of the activities in order to not put that pressure on during this season. If I do find time to do them, then bonus! I don't want to go around stressed about getting it all in and never quite reaching that goal at this point.

So, sound okay? (please say yes, please say yes, I'll have you over for some Mike's just please say yes):)

Definitely pull back as much as necessary. We always make sure the basic LA and math work is done on busy weeks, anything else can always be caught up later. I don't know how long your drives are to the activities, but maybe you could take some work to do during the rides. If you don't have the SOTW audios, then you could just record yourself reading several lessons and listen to those in the car. That would be one less thing to do this summer. HTH

Thanks! Come on over for that Mike's too. I also have some Lindor dark chocolate truffles to share.

I just need to pull back on all but the basics and maybe even shift some of the longer time frame things to a weekend if necessary for a bit.

...the older your children get, the less "not busy" season you'll have.;) But yeah, it does go in waves, I know. My four oldest play soccer and at least one person has practice every day of the week ~ and then the games are Saturdays. But to be honest, I don't take a break from any of our academics when we're busier with activities. Which is NOT to say you can't do that. If it works for you, go for it! And of course, have the Mike's and chocolate, either way.;) But I find that if I start dropping things, we don't get back to them so I'd rather just stay the course.

Ok, burst my bubble about it not getting any easier with that. :001_tt2:

That's true though. SIGH! I guess this week we shall take it easier since I *need* chocolate, KWIM! Things will get better in that way next week. However, I do need to figure out when and how for next week. But for this one, I'll take a reprieve and some extra chocolate. Wanna join me for that?

Just a yucky week this week is kind of what it boils down to. I will probably not have any of these issues next week.
Thanks (and come on over and have a Mike's with me, okay)

Melissa,

Sounds like a good plan to me! As long as the basics are covered, I think you are doing well!

Try to take it easy!:D
