What are Referrals? It is listed on the User Control Panel. Does anyone know what they are?

Is it a good thing?

Oops, wrong spot! It is on the screen when you view a members profile. It is in the "Forum Info" box.

Some forums that use vbulletin (I belong to one) are closed forums. They don't allow just anyone to join up. Some of them are places where people who know each other in real life can talk, that sort of thing. In order for someone new to sign up they must be referred (and vouched for) by an existing member. I think that's why the box is there.
