I'm trying to plan for next year. Right now, I'm exhausted. We've had a lot to deal with this year: selling a house, moving, a parent, with terminal cancer living with us, husband looking for a new job and life in general. I need a break!

For next year, I would really like to outsource quite a bit for my older 2. One will be in 10th grade and one will be in 8th. My youngest isn't a problem.

Here's what I'm trying to decide:
For the 10th grader:
I'll teach math ( Jacob's Geometry and we will probably still be finishing Algebra I), grammar and possibly history.

I'd like to outsource:
Biology ( Potter's School) any opinions on this one?
German 2 ( OSU)
Latin ( again thinking about Potter's School or Memoria Press) - any opinions on either of these?
Writing - either continue with Home2Teach or Write at Home
History - may be use Hewitt's Honor's history.

For my 8th grader:
I'll have him go along with Biology, just not take the class
I"ll do math ( they are in the same books here)
Writing - possibly Write @ home
Latin - Potter's School - Jr. High ( anyone done this?)
I'll do the rest with him - but he's pretty self sufficient.

We've been blessed this year and knowing the stress, my husband has agreed to use part of his bonus for these classes.

I think we definitely need to outsource Latin since we've done Latin 3 years and haven't progressed beyond Latin I. ( Mom keeps getting lost in the Grammar part of it!)

Any thoughts or suggestions? Have you tried any of these online classes and felt they weren't worth it?

Thanks for listening!!!!!

Melissa,

Just wanted to give you some input on The Potter's School bio and Latin. My son is taking both those classes this year and they have been wonderful!

Mr. Spotts teaches Latin and my son really gets a lot out of it. He's scoring a 95% in the class last time I looked at his grade card.

He has Mr. Rosenoff for biology and he loves him! He is so bummed that he doesn't teach chemistry.:001_smile: He may take marine biology later just so he can have him again.

We have had only positive experiences wiht TPS including an HTML class last school year and are enrolling in a few classes for next year, too.:thumbup1:
