Can a transition easily be made from doing R&S math through the end of book 8, to Saxon Algebra I and onward? If you have done this, can you tell me about your experience? Thanks. I plan to have my kids complete R&S 8 by the end of 7th grade, then start Algebra I, if possible. I'm leaning towards Saxon for all the high school math courses.

My kids started Alg. I after Rod and Staff 7 (didn't do all of it; we worked with some of the "Key To" books as well).
We use Foerster's, and they've been fine. (We started out using MUS, but didn't care for it, and switched).
Just as an aside, we're using Rod and Staff 8 alongside, just to keep some of those other math principles fresh. I love Rod and Staff math. :-)

My son did the same thing. R&S 7 to Algebra I and onward. He was well prepared after seven years of Rod and Staff math.

My oldest ds did R&S math 3-6,8 and then Saxon algebra for 8th grade. He uses Saxon with the DIVE cd.

Thanks, everyone! I'm going to look further into Saxon Algebra.
