This new animation won an Oscar. Check listings, but it airs tonight on NC public TV.

Wow, this looks great.
Thanks so much for sharing. I set my tv tuner to record both programs.

Thanks for the heads up! My kids love these performances. FWIW, the digital PBS channel is airing them at earlir times than the regular PBS channel.

Ooh, mine too, thank you! We're going to see a live performance in May, but this should hold her until then :D

So, what did you all think about the performances?
I was disappointed by Hansel and Gretel. I saw the opera performed live last year and definitely prefer the traditional interpretation. I will say though, that it was really cool to see what went on backstage, especially the elaborate costuming.

I agree, I really enjoyed the "behind the scenes" parts!

But then my kiddos are young. I don't think they needed to see a gun shoved in someone's face and then said person being tossed in a dumpster (that's why we homeschool ;) -- that is a joke btw!
The puppets were amazing, though.

My kids refused to watch Peter and the Wolf. Older dd (12yo) said she didn't like that style of animation.
And I didn't get around to taping Hansel and Gretel. Woops.
