Help me decide on a 9th grade history curriculum ...
I am looking for some type of world literature/history curriculum.
Something like Omnibus - but without so much bible study.
Thanks!
Sonlight?? We love it here. My dd will use Core 100 in the fall.

We use Truthquest. It is from a Christian perspective, but there is no Bible readings related to it.

There's Notgrass, too.
Have you thought of just reading thru Spielvogel and adding in literature that you pick from the WTM lists? You can choose 8-12 GB's or go lighter and do some historical fiction of the time period. Use SparkNotes or Cliff's for questions and summaries (so you don't have to read every book yourself)--they are free, online, for the most part. Have your child write out a context page for each book--what was happening around the world at the time the book was written. Pick a few books that you want to go deeper with, and have him write a longer paper. With the other books, maybe investigate the author's backround more, or, if the author was part of a philosophical or literary movement, see how that influenced him/her.
You can use the questions in WTM or in WEM, also, or mix it up--just set aside some time a few times a week and discuss what your child has read, and oversee the papers.
