View Full Version : My 4yo has taken to peeing on the carpet.

Drop the drawers and just pee. Not all the time, not every time. Just twice in the last 2 days. (You can stop laughing now).;)

Is this a phase boys just go through? (My oldest took to peeing in the sink around that age).

I made him clean it up today... but seriously. EEW!

He's not angry or mad -- just "needs" to pee. The other day he was "afraid" to walk to the toilet (it was still dark). I'm not sure what his deal was today, as it was broad daylight and after lunch.

Any help?

Ds did this as an accident one morning. I used several things over several days to clean it and the only thing that made it literally disapear was pouring straight hydrogen peroxide on the stain... :) after a few minutes I patted it dry and as it dried it was gone. You may want to test it first though. I don't know if different types of carpet matter or not...

I'll skip the details and go straight to the reassurance. I would say yes, this is a phase and yes, it's normal.

The person in question, still, to this day, cannot explain what he was thinking. But it does not appear to have been a gateway crime. ;)

(Deep breath.) Okay, I'll try. Seriously, I was "OMG" at your headline, then busted out laughing.

Hmmm. Advice? I have no idea.

But, it did bring back memories of my ds at that age who would always pull his pants down (all the way) BEFORE going up the stairs to get to the bathroom. How we didn't have a serious, half-nude-kid-falling-down-the-stairs-with-his-pants-around-his-ankles-incident, I don't know.

Thanks for the giggle. And, sorry for your situation. I'm hoping it's just some weird fluke. Was it a full moon or anything? ;)

Maybe he waited too long.

That's why I love summer. They can just drop trou and go. My only rule, not on people.

I'm so glad my 4 1/2 yo can't read...he'd probably find this a WONDERFUL idea-what a timesaver! He already thinks it's okay outside. Even if "outside" happens to be the outside table area at an ice cream parlor, or a public park...

I have no advice, but lots of sympathy. Hope it passes quickly.

(For just a little while, this post was right next to your appraisal post. I know it's not the same house, but just reading the titles made me giggle...*MAYBE* the boy peeing all over brought down the value! Hmm. It was a little funnier at the time... in my head...)

Thank you for that. I just literally laughed out loud. (Maybe because I know a certain 2 1/2 year old who would do the same thing.)

As to the original problem, hopefully it is just a phase. The 4 year old (girl, if it matters) I nanny for went through a period recently where she had some accidents. This is a girl who had been out of diapers before she was 2. I think they are so comfortable with going to the bathroom, that they put it off until it is too late. The phase lasted a few weeks, and then we haven't had any other problems in the past month or so.

I think you're handling it fine, and hopefully with some not-so-subtle reminders that he needs to use the toilet, he will get over this phase.

Guess we've been lucky and haven't had any problems. I do have some friends that one time their daughter & another couples little boy peed in the daughters closet. They both got in BIG trouble for that one.

LOL! I'd use "nature's miracle" - you can get it at a pet store for dog/cat accidents. It is an enzyme that works on the urine. I think dog urine is probably close enough to a little boy's!
