I have a friend that will be taking the test for citizenship and I was wondering what books would be good for him to study for the American History and Government section of the test? I thought this would be the best place to get the info.
What do you suggest Hive?

Like taking your Driver's License test, the best material to study would be whatever book/booklet is provide by the office of US Citizenship & Naturalization Services, as all the questions would be taken from that.
Here is the Office website:

Here is the Office's links to the tests and study materials:

If your friend has good English reading skills, and is interested in going more in-depth in studying about U.S. Government and U.S. History, I'd suggest something like:
- The Complete Idiot's Guide to U.S. Government and Politics (newer)
- The Complete Idiot's Guide to American Government (older)
- The Complete Idiot's Guide to American History
They are secular, to the point, and cover just about everything you would need or want for an introductory overview. Several people of this board have used these with their high school students. BEST of luck to your friend! Warmly, Lori D.
