and after the four-hour limit for first day's wearing, can't get one of them out!!!!

Eyedrops. Flood the eye with drops. You don't say if she's been using them, but you can't get them out dry at this point. Put in a lot of drops several times for several minutes, then try again (put in drops right before she grabs at the contacts).
It can take a while to get the hang of it.

I am surprised Walmart sent us home w/o eyedrops!

OK, I'm glad you got them out. From now on, always put a drop in before you try to grab the contact out. It makes it much easier. :)

I had to learn how to take mine out, too. I rarely wear them.
When I take them out, I have to put my finger in the middle of the eye/contact and push them toward my nose. They sort of crumple there, and I can get them out that way.
Getting them IN? I'm still not used to that since I don't wear them often enough.
It does get easier the more you do it ;)

After using the drops, move the contact down as the other poster said. This breaks the "suction", in my experience.
For putting them in, a trick I learned was to insert them while you are looking down into a hand held mirror. The eyes seem more relaxed this way, as opposed to looking forward into the mirror on the wall.
