Hi,

Just thought I'd pass on the info I rec'd yesterday when I called the DIVE CD people. I had originally called to ask if their Biology CD would be compatible with Abeka or CLP Biology. Well, it's not but....

They are coming out with three new complete curriculum CD's. One for Physical Science, one for Biology and the last chemistry. They will have all the lectures and labs as well as worksheets/tests that you can print out and have the child complete. There will be no textbook/just the CD. She said she thought the price would be the same as their other CD's , about $50.

Hope this helps someone on their Biology quest. I'm seriously thinking about getting it.

I e mailed them yesterday to ask what happened to their science cd's. I am thinking of using it in the fall for BJ Physical Science. I can't decide between using the DIVE cd's or BJ DVD's.

Could you explain what you mean by "complete curriculum CD"? Is this some type of CD that will work with any science curriculum, or is DIVE still just for BJU science?

Thanks,
Jan

According to the lady I spoke with at DIVE, the CD's will not be linked to any one publisher. Apparently there was some problems with BJU and copyright policies.

So, these will be by the DIVE people, the lectures on CD will be the teaching. There will be no textbook. Then after the lectures, the student will then print from the CD the assignments/questions that need to be answered, etc. At various points, the student will watch the labs and then answer ques. about them again printing the work/lab sheets. There will also be tests, she wasn't sure if quarterly or more often.

She said they hope to have them out by Aug. if not sooner.

At first, I was real excited about this, but now I'm not so sure about not having a physical textbook my son can handle and read on his own.

HTH,

These are not meant to go with a certain publisher. These are to be stand alone courses published by DIVE to fill the need for upper level science. Also the virtual labs helping those who can't afford lab equipment.

This sounds like a reasonably priced program for some of us non-rich types. I wonder if they will give samples of their questions. I like this idea for my visually oriented child, but I still like having a textbook to fall back to.

Thanks for answering my question.
